The German Christmas Market was founded in 2008, starting out in a church hall. Today, nearly 20 years later, it spans the entire Upper Town of Old Quebec and attracts more than half a million visitors each year.

It enhances the European atmosphere and makes the Christmas season even more magical in Quebec City.

This tour highlights the market’s history and the talent of local artisans, connecting them to Quebec City’s history, traditions, and culture. No need to plan for lunch—we’ve got you covered, as you’ll enjoy plenty of tastings, enough to make up a light meal.

What to know before your tour

By arriving early, your guide can indicate the nearest public restroom, get to know you and you might be able to enjoy the market before starting!

For the best experience, make sure you dress with weather-appropriate clothing (really warmly) and wear comfortable winter boots, a hat and gloves or mittens.

In Quebec City, gratuity is a standard practice. Depending on your appreciation and the type of service, it is an amount of 10% to 20% that is recommended. It is however not mandatory, but very appreciated.

If you wish to leave a gratuity to your tour guide, plan bringing cash or have the guide give you his or her online gratuity link to safely give it by credit card.
